He actually willingly came over to Aradia because she had quite a few baby pokemon on her person, and he wanted to see them, and he sort of. Followed her around until she caught him, because cute babies. Malachite is actually the most likely of Aradia's pokemon to want to help out with baby pokemon, although his rocklike appearance sometimes scares them, to his dismay.
