this is entirely unfair!
ive been waiting to go to the museum in pewter ever since john told me about it on day one
and then jade gave me that book for christmas
and i planned it all out so i could come and see it after all of the fossil things!
this was the plan!
to go to the museum!

[ After sulkily lurking outside of the museum for a little while in the morning, Aradia will be drawing up a plan of attack for Mt. Moon, easily found either at the inn or on a bench outside or at a cafe somewhere. She is not the happiest of campers for once, although her mood will not last long at all. As ever she'll match whatever mode of reply she gets. ]

[SUDDENLY SOLLUX]

[He just came into this cafe to buy too many cups of coffee and derp around on his laptop like a hipster, honest. A conflict of interest arises when he sees Aradia, looking very busy (and very grumpy) at a large table.]

[The conflict of interests lasts for a long time, and he actually manages to select his own table before saying "screw it" and heading back over to her.]

...Hey.

[ She didn't even notice him until he came up to her, and then Aradia glances up. She's clearly got maps spread out in front of her, and a travel guide, and she's just plotting their course and doing the math...

The usual thing she does before they move on, but she's definitely less happy about it than usual. ]

Oh, hey. You're getting something to eat?

[ This is surprising news, if so. Aradia's expression doesn't change, but she does at least shove some of the papers over to make room if he decides to stay, though she doesn't say anything about it. ]

I'm getting something to drink. [He indicates the coffee by swirling it around a bit.]

[Sollux kind of stares awkwardly at the cleared spot; he had intended to just lurk over her shoulder for a while, and then go back to what he was doing. Clearly, however, that was not what Aradia thought was going to happen. Would he look like a douche if he ignored that spot?]

[...Yeah, probably.]

[So Sollux took it, setting his coffee down on the table but still holding on to it. Experience has taught him that if you don't monitor your drinks, they hve an odd tendency to just tip themselves over and totally ruin hours upon hours of work. And they make your computer all sticky. That's just a pain and a half.]

What're you doing?

[ She likely wouldn't have even remarked on his leaving, had he decided not to sit there. It was just automatic more than anything else.

When he did, though, Aradia looked up, blinking at the question. ]

Um. Just travel plans. Rerouting us, since this is sort of a bust and the festival in Fuchsia is in eight days...

Mm-hm. [He glanced over the maps, trying to make it less obvious that he had no clue what any of them meant.]

[And then, casually:] ...Hey, do we have plans to go to Cerulean?

Not immediately that I know of? Just the festival thing. I assume we'll backtrack towards Cerulean after, though. Why?

[ She's trying to remember if there's anything he would be remotely interested in there, but it isn't computer city so. ]

I heard there's a guy named Bill there. He runs the Johto/Kanto Pokémon storage system.

Wanted to ask him a few questions.

We can always drop you off on our way to Fuchsia, if nothing else?

[ Automatically assuming the festival is of minimal interest to him, honestly. ]

[Sollux contemplates this. The festival is of minimal interest to him, but... he has a feeling that neither she or Kanaya want him to ditch again. He'd probably feel kind of guilty if he did.]

Well, one way or another I could just Fly back there if we happen to be passing through. [He shrugs.] If I'm really wanted at Fuchsia, it's not that big a deal if I just... go back later.

Besides, he might not even be there that day. I'm sure that guy has a lot of shit to attend to around the bi-Regional area.

[ Aradia shrugs, turning back to the collection of maps and travel guides, chewing the end of her pencil absently. ]

It's not like you have to go, Sollux. If you don't want to go, you should just go do whatever you want to do. [ She doesn't really care one way or the other, although she'd assumed even if he did go he'd just...stay in his hotel room or something? Who knew, the Breeder's Convention had been the last thing she'd really seen him attend. ]

And I'm sure if he isn't there you could at least get his direction. Or better yet, maybe there's some sort of schedule somewhere...or maybe he does public talks about his system? That sounds like the sort of thing there ought to be conferences about.

If he did public talks, there would be people in this world who knew how the Storage System functions.

Literally no one does, Aradia.

[But that's not the worst part; the worst part is that seemingly no one seems intent on finding out. Think about what could happen if they brought this technology back to Alternia somehow...]

I've always just assumed it works like sylladexes. Except without fetch modii, and more...general.

[ Aradia shrugs, although she does look curious despite herself. ]

Honestly, it's not like anyone seems to understand how pokeballs work, either.

And you don't find that to be a little weird?

Sollux, I'm used to things like that. I'd of course like to know how they work, but I don't find it strange at this point. If anything, they're keeping up with their own theme.

Well, I want to. [Though granted, it's probably because he already has an interest in related subject matter. A normal person probably would not give a shit about how their Pokémon get from point A to point B, as long as they get there.]

Eventually I'm going to figure out what's going on with him. You don't have to come along, but it's gonna happen.

Okay. Let me know what happens, I guess. Kayneth would probably be pretty interested in what you find out.

He's the one who got me to thinking about it in the first place, I was gonna tell him what I find anyway. But I'll give you a shout too.

I'm not surprised! He's one of the smartest people I know.

[ That's said with a fair amount of fondness; she likes Kayneth, he's rad. ]

[Sollux nods, with an expression indicating that he really does have to admit it -- Kayneth is pretty smart.] He does know his shit. Not bad to talk to, either, when he doesn't talk like someone out of the Earthly medieval period.

Does he talk like that?

[ She's never had that issue, really. ]

Still, I'd probably say he's one of the people I speak to most, here. I think we're good friends!

Well, that's what it seems like to me. [Sollux shrugs. He's used to people communicating in extremely vulgar ways, so talking to someone as noticeably controlled as Kayneth is a weird experience.] I mean, I'm getting used to it. But to be honest he's not the kind of guy I would normally talk to, y'know.

[And yet here he is, finding out information for the guy.]

Hm...I guess I probably would speak to him, anyway. But I can't think of many people I wouldn't speak to.

[ at least not really. ]

[Sollux shrugs and looks somewhere off to the side.]

Well, of course you wouldn't, AA. I mean, you talk to everyone anyway.

[ She's never found it to be. ]
