Hello! This is Aradia. I've been doing some reading - well, I suppose it's rather a lot of reading? - about the legends of this place. Jade, thank you again for that book! I actually read a reference to it there, and then it took me a little while to locate other mentions of the topic - it's been nearly two weeks? - because I suppose I'm really in the wrong region for this, but -

Hm. I'm rambling. Anyway! Here's a story that some of you might find interesting.

A long time ago, there was a pokémon known as Regigigas. It seems to be part of a creation myth, like a few others - the task Regigigas completed was pulling the continents into place. When it had completed that task, it created three golems in its image: one from an icy mountain, one from rocks, and from one magma. Regice, Regirock, and Registeel. For a time they were worshiped by the people of the land, but this would not last. They were so powerful that the people grew afraid, and took action.

Using magic they sealed away the master of the golems, Regigigas. The three golems it had created were spirited away to a new land, for if they were to come together Regigigas could rise again, and the people of that land feared that would mean endless destruction. The golems were all sealed away, their locations lost or forgotten.

[ Aradia falls silent for a minute or two, making a note in her binder, before looking back up. ] I'll admit it isn't exactly overflowing with details, but I thought I'd share anyway. The legend itself is apparently native to a place called Hoenn. "We built this" - that was in the translations they released. I wonder what it refers to in specific? The placement of the continents? This world's civilization? I really want to go to Blackthorn sometime soon to see for myself! Oh, and the rest, if you weren't following the news, I guess: "Man ends, pokémon ends, everything ends. New worlds inherit new dreams." We've certainly got worlds aplenty represented here, anyway.

This place does have something of a knack for cryptic messages, though. "Our words shall remain here for the ages. Thus we shall erect a pokémon statue outside. They possess great insight and refuse the outside world. We humans must learn to walk in harmony with them. We depart for their sakes."

I wonder how many more of these little messages are hidden around the realm. I suppose we'll just have to find out! At least reading about this makes it easier to know what to keep an eye out for when we're exploring! Although reading about all of this also makes my "to see" list absurdly long, so maybe I ought to stop until I've caught up with that.

I think that can join my collection of cryptic message notes, all the same. Of course, that sort of direction isn't exactly helpful when none of us know how. When did this show up?

On October 31st, two years. The whole world had been acting strangely by then, but everything returned to normal not long after we received it.

Two years ago? [ Hmm. She's marking that down on a new page. Maybe eventually her notes will actually add up to something that makes sense. spoiler they probably won't. ] Strangely how? Eridan did mention ghosts once.

The ghosts showed up the month before that, as a matter of fact. At the time, only one song kept playing everywhere, and it sounded both distorted and wrong. Everything was made from squares- pixels, Squall called them- and I could practically count the number of colors in a town on both of my hands. The locals, human and Pokémon both, suddenly lost all traces of self-awareness and personality. All of that came after two weeks of stale air and unchanging weather. It was a rather alarming moth.

I can see why you would be alarmed! It sounds like things changed into a video game. [ A pause. ] And not a particularly good one. Not that I ever played much.

A lot of people have been saying that there are videogames in their worlds based on Kanto. But even so, no one expected that to happen.

Yes, my human friends said the same! There's a game sort of like it back home, but it's not as similar as their game apparently is. I've sort of been assuming some of the strangeness about this place is just based off of game mechanics or...something. But then, I've gone into the world of a game before.

Is that so? How interesting. This is the second time I've found myself visiting another world, but it's the first that is linked to one of these videogames. ...Unless you count mine, according to a young man.

Yes! All of my friends have, too. Ah...what do you mean by yours?

That young man saw parts of my life through one of those games. The less pleasant ones, of course. I suspect many worlds are linked in such a manner.

It would make sense, really; our worlds all had to be linked in some manner in order for us to all be in this place, don't you think? And if this world exists as a game in other worlds, it's not out of the question to think that any of our worlds might share the same fate somewhere else. It's a little strange to think about someone playing your life, but...

Only a few weeks or months of it, from what I could tell. Someone might have seen your life, but they certainly would not know everything about you.

I'd expect not! I couldn't pretend to know everything about the characters I've seen in movies, or games. It's just a rather strange thought to have to have, I guess.

That it is. Frankly, when he first mentioned it I was rather embarrassed.

Understandably! You seem fairly at ease with it now, though?

I've had plenty of time to accept that it might happen again.

I suppose I should prepare myself for that possibility, as well...

It cannot hurt. Besides, you might meet a fan.

Was the boy who had played your game a fan?

He was. That was the most surprising part, I think.

Did you expect otherwise?

The moments he saw were not exactly my most glorious.

How do you mean?

He mostly saw times of youthful stupidity and monster fighting. I've done more interesting acts over the years.
